Hello backers -
We want to take a moment to thank you for all your feedback. The Philips PicoPix Max is a new venture for us and the success of this campaign is a great signal that there is demand for projector innovation and creativity.
Your comments, thoughts, and ideas have helped shape PicoPix Max into a one-of-a-kind innovation, complete with new features and additions we didn’t originally plan that are going to be wonderful for you to have. We couldn’t be more grateful, and we hope you’re incredibly excited for your new projector!
We’re excited to announce a few surprises and to share what our engineers have managed to integrate into your new, improved PicoPix Max.
Before we get to the fun stuff, we want to let you know that we will officially be delaying shipment by 2-4 weeks. Products will start shipping from our Hong Kong logistic center around mid-November - easily within the timeline to arrive well before Christmas.
We hope that after reading this update, you’ll agree with our team’s decision that a few extra weeks wait will happily be worth it for years of improved enjoyment from your Philips PicoPix Max.
Without further ado, here are the primary upgrades coming to your Philips PicoPix Max:
Connectivity:
Bluetooth 4.2 has been replaced by Bluetooth 5.0, allowing you to pair up to 100 speakers and connect up to 2 speakers/earphones at the same time! The Wifi antenna has also been modified and improved for better reception.
Audio:
We were able to incorporate a new tweeter, originally intended for the next generation of products. The sound is now louder, but also “bolder” and “wider”. Philips projectors are known to be the quietest on the market and after taking this added step to upgrade your audio, the result will be amazing.
New Modes:
You’ll now be able to choose between Eco, Standard, Bright, or Cinema Mode, in order to balance your preferred viewing experience (maximizing battery life vs. brightness). We’ve also integrated a switch on / off timer by backer request.
Video:
We’ve made some massive, unexpected upgrades here. Specifically, we’ve been able to increase brightness by 20% and reduce fan noise with a new optical engine. Our famous FlowMotion technology (MEMC) is also being integrated to avoid motion lag (a feature built into other Screeneo products). Keep an eye out for next week’s video to see it in action!
Additional feature notes:
HDMI Lag:
Our primary test shows 16ms lag on HDMI - just a 1 frame delay! This super-low latency will be perfect for gaming. In the coming weeks, we’re planning on improving it even more.
USB-C Video:
We are working on a solution to use your PicoPix Max to charge your smart devices while watching content.
Widevine L1:
This is a primary hold-up; we’ve been ready to move forward for quite some time, but communication from the collaboration partner has been incredibly slow. We’ve already signed the MLA contract but are still awaiting the Keybox to build the integration.
Philips HUE:
We know immersion is important so we’re planning on rolling out an integration in the next few months that will let you control Philips HUE products through your PicoPix Max.
Sonos Compatibility:
Philips has always been a pioneer in ecosystem compatibility and we’re excited to announce that we joined the Sonos Dev Program last week with plans to create an integration with Sonos Wifi speakers. Stay tuned for updates on this in the coming months.
Campaign Extending on Friday Night
We wanted to give all of our backers a heads up that although the campaign currently lists an end date of tomorrow night at 11:59pm PT, we’ll be utilizing a one-time extension to continue the campaign for an additional 10 days. This will help ensure that anyone who wants to pre-order a PicoPix Max of their own with the new upgrades has time to do so.
